Find investors for your Christian screenplays
We often times receive e-mails from writers looking to produce their screenplay or book into a film. What many people don’t know or understand is that most Christian Filmmakers are mainly producers, we make films but we are not investors. The secret behind producing any screenplay into a film is finding the funds first, either by finding an investor who believes in your film project or by raising the funds yourself through family, friends, co-workers or anyone you may find. It would be wise if writers would fund their films first, before contacting a filmmaker. Because that’s how most of us (Christian Film makers) raise our funds too. In the case of Facing the Giants, the producers took a different approach, they were able to find help in their own church, their own church invested or donated 100k in their film vision,,, and the rest is history.
So talking to your pastor is another way to get your film funded, and in the process, don’t allow yourself to get frustrated. Sometimes we’ve even waited seven (7) years to raise the funds to produce our next film. Some Hollywood films take 5 to 10 yeas to fund a film, so it’s perfectly normal to wait a few years to see your film vision come to pass. The thing is that you need to be “passionate” enough about your film so that you never quit. As a writer, if all you have is a screenplay or a book, all you really have (in Christian film making terms) it’s a vision written on paper, and that’s good and very important, but next you need PASSION and ACTION to see your film come to pass. Yes, we understand that writing a screenplay is very difficult, and that it takes time and hard work, but making a movie is 10 times more difficult and you need to be prepared to wait and stand in faith every single day, while you find investors interested in funding your next film.
Once you’ve located the funds, their are basically two ways to produce your film: You either have a Christian film producer produce the film for you. Or you learn the art of movie making and produce the film yourself, but it would be wise in such cases to always have an experienced Christian film maker or producer helping you along the way.
Hope this info may inspire you to do what it takes to make your screenplay into a Christian film. But be warned, at times you may need to work day and night until it comes to pass… It’s the only way to do it, there are no short cuts.

Daniel, to do a documentary you just need to do it. Grab a camera and start filming, then you edit it and put it on the Web or on DVDs. There are no limitations in filmmaking. Don’t think Hollywood or TV Network or anything like that, do not limit yourself right now. Just do it! Make a difference, touch a life, proclaim your faith in God, make Him known, make the Lord famous. That’s what Christian film making is really about. It’s about proclaiming the fame of God around the world. But nothing happens if we do nothing.
Picture a film documentary done by young people. A group of young ministers traveling preaching in creative ways, and his best fiend who is a Christian Artist leads people into worship. Each young mans testimony would be captured plus the testimony of the lives they have effected.
My name is Daniel and though I am called to preach I have a passion for film. How would I go about raising money to make a documentary? Would I have to become a legal organization? Do you have any suggestions? Thank you so much for your time. My site is liontamers.wordpress.com if you would like to check it out.
God bless
Daniel
Sir,
There is a Lady who survived severe persecution from her Muslim parents and community for becoming a Christian. I believe if some one can produce a movie based on her life and unbelievable experiences, it will be worthy and can be used as a great tool to evangelize the Muslim community and others people around the world.
